Location: Crawley, West Sussex
Position: Full-time
Must have qualifications: Qualified Secondary School Teacher with experience.

School Overview:

A reputable secondary school with a thriving Media Studies department that has recently evolved into a stand-alone department within our school structure. The department is line-managed by an Assistant Headteacher, demonstrating our commitment to the importance of media education. Our courses are delivered in state-of-the-art IT rooms equipped with various industry-standard software packages.

Courses Offered:

Media Studies GCSE (AQA):

  • Two classes in the current Year 10.
  • A broad range of topics covered, including television, magazines, music videos,
  • newspapers, social and participatory media, video games, advertising, marketing,
  • and the film industry.
  • Focus on Close Study Products set by the exam board.
  • 70% exam and 30% non-exam assessment.

BTEC National Extended Certificate in Creative Digital Media Production:

  • Two options at Level 3.
  • Units include Film Fiction, Representations, Pre-Production Portfolio, and Responding to a Commission.
  • Qualification is 58% exam and 42% internal assessment.

Film Studies A-Level (Eduqas):

  • Topics covered include Hollywood 1930-1990 (Comparative Study), American film
  • since 2005/2012 (two-film study), British film since 1995 (two-film study), Global film (two-film study), Documentary film, Silent cinema, Film movements, and Experimental film (1960-2001).
  • 7 students in the Year 13 class.
  • 70% exam and 30% non-exam assessment.

Candidate Requirements:

  • We are seeking a qualified and enthusiastic Teacher to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will:
  • Hold relevant qualifications and experience.
  • Demonstrate a passion for media education and a commitment to fostering an engaging
  • learning environment.
  • Have experience delivering Media Studies GCSE, BTEC National Extended Certificate in
  • Creative Digital Media Production, and/or Film Studies A-Level.
  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons in line with the specified curriculum.
  • Support students in their examination preparation and non-exam assessment projects.
  • Collaborate with the Media Studies department to enhance the overall learning
  • experience.
  • Contribute to the development and growth of the department.
